Fair use: There’s no hard bandwidth cap for Live Optimization; usage is subject to reasonable-use limits. Credits are typically charged on the first uncached request—subsequent views benefit from browser/CDN caching and usually do not consume additional credits.

Flexible billing: Set monthly credit quotas per site, or choose a per-site Smart (unlimited) plan when you don’t want to track credits. You can also mix and match—use unlimited on some sites and credits on others within the same account.

What happens at the limit? We’ll notify you as you approach your monthly quota and again if a site reaches it. Your site will enter Essential Performance Mode, which keeps caching and other static optimizations (e.g., CSS/JS handling) active. New, uncached real-time image or script optimization requests will require additional credits to be optimized—or they’ll be served from your local/origin copy until credits are added.

• Apply overflow credits: Use reserve credits in your account to continue Live Optimization instantly.
• Reallocate credits: Raise the site’s quota by moving credits from your pooled balance (if available).
• Upgrade or go Unlimited: Move the site to a larger plan—or choose a Smart (unlimited) plan so you don’t have to track credits.

Delivery adapts per visitor (device, browser, screen size, in-viewport position, and geo) so every request gets the smallest, fastest file possible. Includes Adaptive Images, Retina support, lazy loading, and lightning-fast global CDN delivery.

Local Optimization:
Compress the originals in your media library (Lossless or Smart), automatically update src/srcset, and optionally back up originals locally or to the cloud.

Optimize single images or bulk-compress your entire library with optional on-upload automation; choose the optimization level, pick which thumbnails to process, and generate Retina variants when you need them.

Yes—WP Compress is fully toggle-based and flexible per site. Use it just for caching, only lazy-load images, CDN on/off, or any combination you prefer. You can also switch between Live Optimization (via edge CDN) and Local Optimization (via your server) at any time.

Recommended preset: Aggressive Mode + CDN On for the fastest results. But it’s your call—dial features up or down to match each site’s needs.

If you’re using Live Optimization: When you deactivate, pages stop rewriting asset URLs to our CDN. New page loads will serve your original assets from your server again (images, CSS/JS, SVG). Previously cached pages in a visitor’s browser—or cached CDN files—may continue to load briefly until those caches expire, but no new Live Optimization credits will be used.

If you’re using Local Optimization: Any images you already compressed will remain in their optimized state. If you want to revert to the originals, use the Restore option before deactivation (or simply reactivate later to access restores). Backups you created (local or cloud) remain available.

• Performance note: Without Live Optimization/CDN, load times and Core Web Vitals may regress to pre-WP Compress levels.
• Caching tip: If you change modes or deactivate, consider purging page/edge caches (e.g., Cloudflare, page cache plugins) so pages immediately reflect the current asset URLs.
• Reactivation: Re-enable the plugin anytime—your settings are saved and Live/Local optimization will resume where you left off.
